Wojciech and Katarzyna emigrated from the Koziebrody–Biezun region of Poland to Fayette County, Pennsylvania in 1891. Their descendants became part of the early immigrant families who helped build the coal towns of Gates, Leckrone, and Nemacolin.

Their story connects the rural villages of Mazovia with the industrial Monongahela Valley — a journey shared by many families who came seeking work, stability, and a new beginning in America.
